Tour 3 : Pico del Teide / Wednesdays

After reaching the Cañadas we take the cable car up to Mount Teide. From the top station we can enjoy the views over the entire crater. The last 170 meters we manage on foot.

Standing on the top now we have breathtaking views over Tenerife, and on clear days we can even see the other islands of the Canaries. The descent then takes us through the lava fields along bizarre rock formations to the refuge Alta Vista. Here we rest, with the Cañadas lying to our feet.

We continue down through boulders and lava fields. Again and again, our eyes are caught by the broad, fantastic panorama. On the last bit of the descent we can find small chunks of obsidian, if we´re lucky. Around the white mountain, the "Montaña Blanca", the path leads us back again to the road. We honestly have earned a cool drink now!
